WASHINGTON––Today, Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) issued the following statement regarding H.R. 8.

"The Democrats have made no secret of wanting to unilaterally infringe upon the Constitutional rights of the American people to keep and bear arms. H.R. 8 inappropriately imposes the federal government's heavy hand in between law-abiding citizens and their right to own and use firearms.”

“States and cities with the most stringent gun laws are the same places where gun crimes run rampant; the truth of the matter is, gun laws are only useful for those who follow the law, not the criminals who take advantage of the Second Amendment. Today it is universal background checks, and tomorrow it is the complete banning of firearms across the board. Gun laws like H.R. 8 only unreasonably impact everyday Americans who responsibly own and use firearms, not criminals who by definition do not follow the rules.”
