WASHINGTON – Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) joined Florida's Voice with Drew Steele on RightLine Media to discuss the need to end the Senate filibuster and pass the SAVE Act.
"I am in full agreement with President Trump. The Senate filibuster needs to go away":
"I am in full agreement with President Trump. The Senate filibuster needs to go away. It needs to go back to the way the filibuster was intended. If you want to oppose a measure, go to the floor of the Senate and debate why you oppose it... You have to actually debate and explain why to the American people you oppose a measure, and that's what the Senate filibuster prevents us from doing."
"The SAVE Act, national voter ID, that's common-sense stuff. 80% of the American people support it":
"I've worked on Capitol Hill now for five years now. This is going into my sixth year. I've seen enough. There are great ideas that come out of the House of Representatives. Most of them will never even get a vote on the floor of the House because everybody knows it's just going to die in the Senate because you can't break the filibuster. That's actually not getting positive things done for the American people. The SAVE Act, national voter ID, that's common-sense stuff. 80% of the American people support it. The reason it doesn't come off the Senate floor is because of the Senate filibuster. That's what's going on."
