WASHINGTON – Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) joined The Joyce Kaufman Show on 850 WFTL to discuss immigration policy and the importance of assimilation.
"You're bringing an ideology into your country that does not comport with the culture of, in America's case, Western civilization and the tolerance and respect we have for different nationalities, different religions":
"Your frustration is shared by me and so many of us up here on Capitol Hill, and I think, at its core, radical immigration and what I mean by that is massive amounts of chain migration where there is not a focus on assimilation actually breeds part of this because what you end up doing is you're bringing an ideology into your country that does not comport with the culture of, in America's case, Western civilization and the tolerance and respect we have for different nationalities, different religions. And so, you know, as countries continue to follow what's happened to Western Europe, unforunately, you're going to see a lot more of this. The second piece is, you know, this moral relativism trying to be foisted on people from the radical left. And in some parts the fringes even maybe on the right where somehow Israel is to blame or Jewish people are to blame because of the ills of Palestinians or people in the Arab world. It's just misguided, and it's not based in reality. That's based on hatred and demagoguery and, frankly, radical Islamic teachings that do not line up with reality."
