ICYMI: Donalds Joins Florida's Voice With Drew Steele

WASHINGTON – Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) joined Florida's Voice with Drew Steele on RightLine Media to discuss his support for ending the Senate filibuster and the need for the Senate to pass the SAVE Act.

Watch the full interview here.

"The Democrats have no interest in making sure that people have to verify they are an American citizen to be eligible to vote in a federal election.":

"Well, the SAVE Act is very simple. It requires that for federal elections, in order to register to vote, to be eligible, you have to demonstrate that you are an American citizen. Very simple. Protect the franchise of voting for Americans in our country. We've passed it out of the House twice now. We passed it out this Congress, we passed it out last Congress. It doesn't move in the Senate because of the Senate filibuster... The Democrats have no interest in making sure that people have to verify they are an American citizen to be eligible to vote in a federal election. They have no interest in doing that; we know this."

"It needs to go; it's not working. It stops good policy from actually being truly debated":

"I keep that to the Senate filibuster. It needs to go; it's not working. It stops good policy from actually being truly debated. I think you would actually see more compromise in the Senate if there was not a Senate filibuster rule. I think you would see more compromise because if you're in the minority, you would know stuff is moving and it would actually prompt you to go talk to your colleague on the other side of the aisle to try to, you know, work on a piece of legislation, try to find ways to make it better, etc."
