"People are having to choose between rent and health insurance, and that is not a solution for the American people":
"Well, a couple of things. One, I would say, to be clear, Democrats own healthcare policy. It's their healthcare policy that runs the country; no Republican has ever voted for it. Premiums are skyrocketing, deductibles are skyrocketing, so my position and a lot of my colleagues on Capitol Hill is that yes, Republicans, we need a healthcare policy, we need to create one today. There's a lot of ideas we've been talking about for years. Time to coalesce behind one. But to the Democrats, what will you do? Do you want to argue for more subsidies which are not going to fix the healthcare system, or do you want to finally unwind the Affordable Care Act, which is an oxymoron? Because the healthcare is not affordable. People are having to choose between rent and health insurance, and that is not a solution for the American people."
"The real problem in our country is that the education system has failed young Americans. They have not prepared our young people for the jobs of tomorrow":
"The real problem in our country is that the education system has failed young Americans. They have not prepared our young people for the jobs of tomorrow. If you look at mathematics literacy, we have our colleges and universities who are having to remediate high school students coming from every state in America. This is a travesty. While the American Federation of Teachers and the bureaucrats argue for sweetheart deals, America's children have not been trained for the jobs of tomorrow. So, I think you couple that with the fact that, yes, H1-Bs are a disaster, they're a scam against American workers. Our immigration system, which has been Democrat-led for decades in our country, needs to be completely reformed to put the American people first. But the core reason why we're having issues with Americans who are supremely gifted, supremely talented, and have God given genius is that our education system has failed young people in this country. That's why I support school choice, that's why I support it."
