WASHINGTON – Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) joined Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla on Fox News Radio to discuss President Trump's tariff revenue dividends proposal, and the importance of healthcare reform.

"My personal view, Obamacare needs to go away. We need to have a complete top-to-bottom overhaul of how we do health insurance":

"I mean, look, the better way to look at it, I hope there is bipartisan support for it. Because what we know is that the Democrats' plan right now to give subsidies directly to insurance companies, people's premiums are going through the roof. And now they want to put out more subsidies to cover up the fact that the original plan doesn't work. It's not affordable, it's just not working out for anybody. So, my hope is they would support something like this, but we'll see. I think the Ways and Means Committee is starting to look at that policy set right now. My personal view, Obamacare needs to go away. We need to have a complete top-to-bottom overhaul of how we do health insurance. You can't have broad-based mandates, and that's one of the core issues with Obamacare. There are broad-based mandates that mandate what gets covered. And so because of that, the costs are higher, and every American is different. We're all different, we're human beings, we have different situations going on. I get the people who have acute concerns, some of the acute pre-existing conditions concerns that came up during the original Obamacare debate. I think we can get around that stuff to help those people, but the current system is not working. Everybody knows that."

"That's the reality so many Americans are facing. That's the reality young people in America have been facing":

"Jimmy, that's not insane. That's the reality so many Americans are facing. That's the reality young people in America have been facing. So originally, the way Obamacare was designed is that young people were going to buy these expensive healthcare plans, and they were going to subsidize, essentially, through buying the expensive plans, a lot of people with acute conditions. That's the way Obamacare was designed. But guess what? Young people were like, 'I don't have the money for this. This is crazy.' So they didn't buy the plans. That's one of the reasons why the premiums are through the roof. One of them, not the only reason, but it's one of them. And so, you're exactly right. People are going to make economic decisions, and if it is cheaper to just pay out of pocket versus getting a plan with a $2,000 premium before you even get to the $15,000 deductible, which, by the way, they don't have the income to actually get to. You're going to see what you're seeing now, and covering it up with more subsidies is not the answer."
