"This shutdown was about nothing except Chuck Schumer. It is a travesty that Democrats took us this far down the road, but now we're going to reopen the government":
"No, it's all on Chuck Schumer. The Schumer shutdown looks like it's shutting down his leadership career in the United States Senate. Look, this entire drama, the last forty days, has all been about Chuck Schumer's ability to remain leader of the Senate Democrats. Back in March, Chuck Schumer allowed the vote, pushed forward a vote, on a similar CR, and he got criticized and killed by his own members of the Democratic Senate and the Democratic House. Now he took us through a forty-day shutdown - air traffic controllers not being paid, SNAP benefits for families at risk, our military troops [were] threatened to not get their pay, and he's back in the same position again. This shutdown was about nothing except Chuck Schumer. It is a travesty that Democrats took us this far down the road, but now we're going to reopen the government. We're going to get back to business, we're going to get back to the America First agenda that's really helping Americans, not the sideshow from the Democrats. "
"All they are trying to do is blame Republicans so they can get ahead politically. It's not going to work; we were never going to buckle to their demands.":
"No, I think the House, we're going to vote this thing up. We're going to get it to the president's desk. He's going to reopen air traffic controllers, border agents, ICE agents, our military men and women; they're all going to get the money that they are due, they're going to get paid. And then we're going to get back to the business of our country. Look, I think it's important for the American people to see this once and for all. During this 'Schumer shutdown,' the Democrats argued for healthcare for illegals, then they wanted to bring up Obamacare subsidies. They were arguing about all these issues, but at the end of the day, they were sacrificing the men and women of this country and their economic well-being for politics. And they have no real solutions; they never had. All they are trying to do is blame Republicans so they can get ahead politically. It's not going to work; we were never going to buckle to their demands.”
