ICYMI: Donalds Joins Mornings With Maria

WASHINGTON – This morning, Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) joined Mornings With Maria on Fox Business Network to discuss Chuck Schumer's government shutdown, the need to eliminate the Senate filibuster, his support for the impeachment of Judge Boasberg, and NYC Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.

Watch the full interview here.

"This is all politically motivated and it's become clear that the Senate filibuster is actually not promoting debate; it's actually not promoting bipartisanship":

"Look around, Maria. We are day 38 into a shutdown, and still, it's not really clear what the Democrats were looking for. What they were looking for, in my view, was a political advantage. A political advantage for Chuck Schumer, a political advantage for the Democrats, but they've changed their tune like four or five times now during this entire thing. At the beginning, it was the healthcare changes that didn't allow blue states to pay for healthcare for illegal aliens. They realized that was unpopular, then they switched to NPR. Realized that made no sense, then they started talking about Obamacare subsidies, and now they're talking about trying to get more. After Tuesday's election, the expectations around Capitol Hill was that the elections would end, then we would go and figure out how to reopen the government, and then the word came that Senate Democrats wanted to hold off a little longer because they had a good night on Tuesday, and they tried to see if they can get more stuff. This is all politically motivated and it's become clear that the Senate filibuster is actually not promoting debate; it's actually not promoting bipartisanship. What it's promoting is the Senate Democrats to now politically maneuver. Politics, just like markets, rely on incentives. The incentives now going forward are going to be just keep holding out, especially if you're the Democrats in the minority, and they're projected to be the minority in the Senate for quite some time. Just keep holding out because at somepoint, everybody is going to feel pain, and you just get to sit back and then try to cut some new. That's not working for the American people; it's not working for them."

"This is outrageous, and you had a federal judge in on it simply because they were trying to throw Donald Trump in jail":

"I do want him impeached [Judge Boadberg], he needs to go because you have a judge who has a responsibility to uphold the law, but what he participated in is the largest spying operation against your political rivals in American history. Everybody loves to talk about Watergate with Richard Nixon. Richard Nixon never even dreamed of something like this. This is outrageous, and you had a federal judge in on it simply because they were trying to throw Donald Trump in jail. And let's not forget folks, yes, he is president now, but Judge Boasberg, Jack Smith, Merrick Garland, and the Democrats wanted Donald Trump in jail. That's what they wanted, and they would go to any lengths, spy on any American, spy on any elected official in order to do so. The second thing is, this was meant to be a chilling effect on Republican opposition to radical Democrat policy in the United States of America. Look, you want to disagree over public policy? Let's do it. You want to have hard campaigns where you fight hard and you're out there reaching voters? Let's do it. But when you use the Justice Department to spy, and to wiretap, and to track the movements of your political rival. That is un-American. That's why Judge Boasberg needs to go."
