WASHINGTON – Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) joined Saturday in America on Fox News Channel to discuss Chuck Schumer's government shutdown, and the indictment of New York Attorney General Letitia James on charges of alleged mortgage fraud.
"If you live in a glass house, don’t throw stones. It’s real simple":
"100%. Her entire campaign for attorney general of New York was to go after one man, and that one man was Donald Trump. She was letting real criminals go. She was letting them go scot-free in New York, but she ran just to go after President Trump, and it’s wrong. It’s a misuse of power, abuse of power. And now we find out that she was not on the up and up with her personal documents, and now she wants to feign outrage. Well look, this is very simple. If you live in a glass house, don’t throw stones. It’s real simple. But unfortunately, Letitia James, she's indicted because it appears that, yes, she was defrauding mortgage companies to get a favorable down payment and a favorable interest rate, and she thought nobody was going to check."
"It’s clear to the American people that the Democrats are shutting this down simply because they haven’t gotten their way":
"It’s a terrible statement. First of all, it’s clear to the American people that the Democrats are shutting this down simply because they haven’t gotten their way. They’re trying to demonstrate that they can stand up to Donald Trump. They’re trying to keep illegals on Medicaid and let’s be clear, what we did in the president’s agenda bill was get illegals off of Medicare — Medicaid, excuse me. And you have Democrats who don’t want that. They want illegal aliens to have Medicaid, so they’re fighting for illegals over the American people. This is wrong. This is why the Democrats continue to lose ground. So Republicans are united on this. If you want to discuss the ACA, which by the way, Democrats need to unwind Barack Obama’s health care policy because it’s only led to higher deductibles and higher premiums for the American people. But if you want to do that stuff, reopen the government like you’ve done so many other times, and then let’s figure out what we’re going to do to really, truly fix health care in America for the American people because the Affordable Care Act did not do it. It only made health care far more expensive."
