WASHINGTON – Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) joined Mornings with Maria on Fox Business Network to discuss Senator Chuck Schumer's government shutdown, the introduction of his bill H.R. 5177 "The WEIGH Act", and the continued reckless rhetoric of the radical left.

"Chuck Schumer has given the keys of leadership to the radical left in the Democrat Party":

"It's really unclear how long this is going to go because Chuck Schumer has given the keys of leadership to the radical left in the Democrat Party - that's, that's the real issue here. The CR, which House Republican passed to keep the government open, is the same continuing resolution that Democrats have voted for 13 times before. The only reason why they're now trying to demonstrate that they're tough is because Donald Trump is actually instituting his agenda across America and it's the radical left that's opposed to it. I would assume if you talk to normal Democrats in the streets of America they're happy with the fact that the border is secure, they're happy with the fact that we're actually being serious with the people's business. The radical left doesn't like it and so here we are. This thing could, I think, it probably goes into next week could be longer. It's really up to Chuck Schumer. Does he want to an actually put the American people first or does he want to put his leadership in the Senate and his future political prospects first? That's the question here."

"We're going to put the American people first. We're not going to put illegal aliens first, and that's why we're in this situation":

"It absolutely is, it's the radical left, Maria. They want to re-install healthcare for illegal aliens - that's what they want. They want to spend billions of dollars more. That's what they want and the truth of the matter is, Donald Trump is president, Republicans control both chambers, [and] we're not going to do that. We're going to put the American people first. We're not going to put illegal aliens first, and that's why we're in this situation. John letterman said it clearly. Yes, this is the same CR they voted for many, many times, and now they're choosing not to support the same measure because they're not getting their way when it comes to policy specifically around illegal immigration and illegal aliens." 

"This is about the radical left, they issue these licenses because they value illegal aliens more than the American people": 

"Maria, this is the insanity of the radical left. Kathy Hochul, Gavin Newsom, you name the Democrat governor - they allow this to happen and it's crazy, it makes no sense. Look, Americans, most of us get licenses at 16 or at 18 depending on your state. You're not allowed to walk into the DMV and when they ask you for your first name you say, 'no name given' or you say you don't have one - they're not going to issue the license. But for an illegal alien, you allow that to occur let alone giving them a CDL when you haven't even seen if they actually understand our language and understand our laws? This is crazy, but these are the sanctuary policies of these radical left blue states. And I think people need to understand very clear, this isn't about independence in our country. This is about the radical left, they issue these licenses because they value illegal aliens more than the American people."
