ICYMI: Donalds Joins Daybreak On 92.5 FM WFSX

WASHINGTON – Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) joined Daybreak on 92.5 FM WFSX Fox News Radio–Estero to discuss the passage of his bill H.R. 4922 – "The D.C. CRIMES Act", the failed resolution to censure Ilhan Omar, and the federal government's continued protection of free speech.

Listen the full interview here.

"You can’t try a 24 year old as a juvenile -  that's just common sense":

"Look, it’s, it’s really about doing what's best for the District of Columbia, the entire District. I mean the D.C. city council, um, has failed in their duty to protect their people, and so, you know, my bill is one of I think four or five that are gonna, that passed yesterday and the day before. We'll see what the Senate does with them, but, you know, we have to just be, use common sense. You can’t try a 24 year old as a juvenile -  that's just common sense and that's what D.C. was allowed to do, and so we changed that to mirror what happens everywhere else in the country."

"Four Republicans voted no. I do not know why, you know, I don't know why they did that":

"The ball was dropped obviously. Um, she should have been censured for what she, for her comments. I thought they were vile and disgusting. You know and look, people are allowed to have free speech. There's nothing wrong with that - speak your mind, you’re free to do that. Um, but you know, we all know that even in our private lives, you know, there's an old uh, uh Dave Chappelle uh skit he called when keeping it real goes wrong. And sometimes it just, you speak your mind - that's wonderful, but there's consequence of dealing with other people. Now, with the government, obviously, we protect free speech and we're gonna protect free speech. Um, but that doesn't mean there's not outcomes, you know, with other folks, And there should have been an outcome on the Hill. Uh, four Republicans voted no. I do not know why, you know, I don't know why they did that but."

"His ratings were down and you know they probably were looking for an excuse and he gave them one and that was it":

"Um, we shouldn’t be and look, I'm a, I'm an absolutist on free speech. I think uh, you know, this country was created to even protect the most vile speech. Um, that doesn’t mean that, you know, you're in a Jimmy Kimmel situation that there may not be a consequence. I mean, look, his ratings were way down anyway. His ratings were down and you know they probably were looking for an excuse and he gave them one and that was it."
