WASHINGTON – Conservative Colombian Senator and Presidential Candidate Miguel Uribe has passed away after months of battling gunshot wounds suffered during an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in the nation's capital of Bogotá.
According to reports, the 39 year-old passed away this morning after having spent nine weeks in the hospital undergoing multiple surgeries. Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) released the following statement:
"Conservative Colombian Senator and Presidential Candidate Miguel Uribe has succumbed to gunshot wounds suffered during a June assassination attempt. Miguel was a courageous voice for freedom. Erika and I pray for his wife María Claudia and his family during this time of grief."
