Donalds Bill To Evaluate Federal Purchasing Standards Passes House 397-0

WASHINGTON – Last night, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 5528 – The Safe and Smart Federal Purchasing Act, with a unanimous, bipartisan vote of 397-0.

This commonsense proposal to evaluate potential national security risks associated with certain federal purchasing protocols is sponsored by Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) and is the congressman's thirteenth piece of legislation that has passed the U.S. House of Representatives during the 118th Congress. Donalds released the following statement:

"As a member of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, ensuring proper governance and efficiency in federal operations are paramount concerns of mine. Federal procurement processes—although often overlooked—are critical to the operation of our government and necessitate comprehensive assessment. Simply put, affordability considerations and associated national security risks of procurement procedures must be thoroughly evaluated. I am proud to receive the unanimous support of my colleagues on this proposal and look forward to its introduction and successful passage in the Senate."
