Congressman Donalds Introduces The Immigration Authorization Act of 2023

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) announced the introduction of the Immigration Authorization Act of 2023, which demands transparency from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) relating to programs and components of DHS that Congress hasn't explicitly authorized.

"This simple proposal calls for reasonable transparency and accountability outlining unauthorized DHS programs and offices that sustain the immigration-related duties of the agency tasked with keeping the nation safe. The American people deserve to know where their hard-earned tax dollars are going, and this bill does just that."

Background:

According to Congress' "power of the purse" authority, House and Senate rules prohibit any expenditure if Congress does not authorize the program or office that receives the funding.
