WASHINGTON -Today, Rep. Byron Donalds issued the following statement regarding the wrongful and politically motivated confinement of Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller.

“The unjust and partisan treatment of United States Marine Lt. Col. Scheller is unacceptable and deserves universal criticism by everyone who believes in due process and justice. Following the haphazard withdrawal from Afghanistan, the American people, especially those of our Armed Services community, rightly expressed anger and condemnation toward the Biden administration and members of the military's top brass who conducted this devastating military operation. This ruthless attempt to make an example of a hero brave enough to speak truth to power is a gross miscarriage of justice and exposes the putrid politicization of executive agencies under President Biden.

“The last time I checked, speaking out against the government isn't a crime but protected under the United States Constitution. The DoD is more interested in targeting a courageous warrior who valiantly served in the Marines for 17 years rather than pursuing accountability for those responsible for the Afghanistan crisis and Gen. Milley’s actions with America's adversaries.”
