Donalds Celebrates The Outsized Contributions Of America's Linemen To The People Of Southwest Florida

WASHINGTON – Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) co-sponsored bipartisan legislation offered by Rep. David Rouzer (R-NC) to recognize and celebrate the bravery and contributions of America's linemen to the people of Southwest Florida.

The "Bipartisan Linemen Appreciation Resolution" is the 505th piece of legislation co-sponsored by Congressman Donalds during the 118th Congress and also received support from Representatives Doug LaMalfa (R-CA), Kat Cammack (R- FL), Neal Dunn (R-FL), Frederica Wilson (D-FL), Austin Scott (R-GA), Jill Tokuda (D-HI), Morgan McGarvey (D-KY), Sam Graves (R-MO), Alma Adams (D-NC), Richard Hudson (R-NC), Wiley Nickel (D-NC), Deborah Ross (D-NC), Mike Flood (R-NE), Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-OR), Brendan Boyle (D-PA), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Susan Wild (D-PA), Tom Kean (R-NJ), Chris Smith (R-NJ), Ralph Norman (R-SC), Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN), Brian Babin (R-TX), Marc Veasey (D-TX), Marie Gluesenkamp-Perez (D-WA), and Carol Miller (R-WV). Congressman Donalds released the following statement:

"In the wake of Hurricane Ian’s historic devastation, 42,000 linemen from 30 states descended upon Southwest Florida. These brave, selfless, and hardworking Americans helped to restore our power and spark our community’s recovery. Linemen deserve recognition and I am proud to join Rep. Rouzer in honoring their tireless and critical contributions to our nation."

Our nation’s linemen serve as a frontline response to natural disasters, reconnecting Americans in the wake of storms, fires, and floods.

BILL ACTIONS:

This resolution designates April 18th as "National Lineman Appreciation Day."
This resolution recognizes the over 115,000 Electrical Linemen maintaining America’s electrical infrastructure.
This resolution further recognizes the efforts and courage of linemen in keeping the power on and protecting public safety; the remarkable contributions to America’s electricity customers; and the personal, family, and professional tradition of the trade.
