Congressman Donalds released a statement regarding the American Rescue Plan Markup being considered in Congress.
WASHINGTON––Today, Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL), a member of the House Committee on the Budget, issued the following statement ahead of the Budget markup of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. "The American Rescue Plan Act is nothing more than a liberal wish list under the guise of COVID-19 relief, but in reality, this bill is using the pandemic to push forth the radical and misguided policies of the far-left. Blue-state bailouts, billion-dollar pet-projects, and unrelated policy changes such as increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour are at the core of this bloated and erroneous bill.” “In Florida, we have found the cure to the national economic catastrophe brought on by the pandemic––giving the American people the freedom to operate their lives and livelihoods safely and responsibly. As part of previous rescue relief efforts, there are still billions of taxpayer money unspent for reopening schools, state and local governments, and our economy, yet Democrats are going back to well to fund their progressive grab bag. The hardworking people of Southwest Florida should not have to bail out the mismanaged and disastrous policies of Cuomo and Newsom, and the politicians in Washington willing to throw them a bone." ### |
