Last week, I returned to Washington as the House of Representatives stood in session. Outside of the day-to-day operations of Congress, the nation witnessed an extreme meltdown from Democrats as billionaire entrepreneur, Elon Musk, purchased Twitter.
The outrage and temper tantrums showcased by the Left following the announcement of Musk's purchase show their opposition to true freedom of speech. For years, the progressive leaders in charge of Twitter have censored, banned, and silenced conservative and independent voices for simply disagreeing with their radical "woke" agenda. To elite Democrats, Elon Musk represents free speech and independent thought—a direct threat to their intentional scheme to cancel conservative Americans. This purchase signals a turning of the tide. With conservatives now free to push & fight back against misleading Democrat narratives, no longer are Leftists able to censor the opinion of their political opponents, neighbors, and fellow Americans. After years of political suppression, Musk's purchase of Twitter marks the hopeful return of free speech to a politically neutral social media experience. Additionally, the White House recently announced the possibility of President Biden canceling federal student loans. This call to erase student loan debt is solely a political move intended to avoid a complete shellacking in the midterm elections. By canceling student loan debt, the Biden administration is forcing two-thirds of Americans who didn't go to college to pay for the minority of Americans who choose to seek higher education. Newsflash, nothing in this world is free. Everything in life comes with a price, and anyone claiming otherwise isn't telling the truth. The hardworking men and women of America's working-class should not have to pay off the debt of those who choose to take out debt to pay for their degree.
Based on this logic, a handyman in Scranton, Pennslyvania, will be responsible for paying off the debt of a Women's Studies major in San Francisco. Just as bad, this move will force people like me and countless others who paid off their loans to now pay off the loans of others. This idea is unAmerican and will likely head to the courts to determine the constitutionality of absolving billions of personal debt by the federal government.
Furthermore, as our nation faces record inflation and gas prices and concerns of a recession, a policy of this nature is extremely irresponsible. As a solid constitutional and fiscal conservative, I will do everything in my power to prevent this policy from gaining traction and hold those accountable for advocating these reckless policies.
