NAPLES, FL – Today, Congressman Byron Donalds released the following statement announcing a press conference opposing the radical teachings of Critical Race Theory in Southwest Florida schools.
This press conference serves as an opportunity for constituents, concerned parents, members of the media, and local leaders to hear directly from their United States Representative on the harmful, illogical, and extremist teachings of Critical Race Theory. Florida State Representative Bob Rommel and Collier County Commissioner Bill McDaniel will also be sharing remarks with members of the media. For more information, please visit my website.
“The education of our children is critical to our future success as a nation. Critical Race Theory doesn’t teach future generations that they can aspire to achieve the American Dream, rather this radical ideology suppresses our nation’s history and further perpetuates the false narrative that America is a systemically racist country,” said Rep. Donalds. “Enforcing this discriminatory ideology upon impressionable children will only cause further division and hatred; as concerned parents and citizens, we must unite against state-sanctioned racism in our public schools.”
“As our children prepare to go back to school it’s time to stop the divide. Schools need to get back to teaching English, math, history, and civics- not Critical Race Theory,” said Rep. Rommel. “I will continue to work hard to ensure that every parent knows what is being taught to their children and to make sure that parents have a choice in what type of education is best for their child.”
“Racism is a sad fact amongst our society today,” said Commissioner McDaniel. “It is incumbent upon us as parents that our education system does not perpetuate racism. We should all work together to remain abreast of these trends.”
