Last week, the House of Representatives entered August recess. This break in the legislative session will provide me ample time to travel throughout Southwest Florida to meet with constituents and local stakeholders. I will continue to advocate for the conservative values of #FL19!
While American citizens face overbearing mask mandates and are shamed for not receiving the vaccine, COVID-19 is flooding over our open border without regulation. Last week we saw disturbing images of massive crowds of immigrants gathering at our border for entry. Border crossings reached the highest level in 21 years in the month of July. Despite carrying COVID-19, these individuals are being allowed into our country and transported throughout the United States. While the Democrats ship immigrants across the country, they complain that COVID cases are rising; but instead of halting this mass immigration, law-abiding American citizens feel the burdens of new mandates and requirements. While the Biden administration continues to berate Americans to get vaccinated and limit their liberties, they welcome illegal immigrants into our country with open arms. The hypocrisy has reached a breaking point. I continue to be vocal in my fight against new mask guidance and forced vaccinations as well as fight for answers and leadership regarding the Biden Border Crisis.
New York Mayor Bill De Blasio announced New York City will become the first city to require proof of vaccination in restaurants and gyms - a glaring example of tyrannical government overreach. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and De Blasio should be awarded for best realtors in America as people flee New York and come to the great state of Florida. New York is a prime example of a state that is collapsing under Democratic leadership - as a native New Yorker, it is disappointing to see a city crumble under weak liberal leadership. On May 3, 2021, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed landmark legislation to ban vaccine passports to ensure Floridians personal freedoms are not infringed upon. Last week, DeSantis issued an executive order that would cut off federal funding to schools that implement mask mandates. We must ensure all citizens, and especially our children, can return to work and school without overbearing and asinine mask and vaccine mandates. I am proud to represent the 19th Congressional District of Florida that prioritizes freedom and personal responsibility.
