WASHINGTON - Today, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) issued the following statement regarding President Biden’s abysmal economic policies leading to massive inflation and a 30-year high Consumer Price Index (CPI).
“I grew up poor in a single-parent household where my mother struggled to make ends meet but never failed to put food on the table, keep a roof over my head, and clothes on my back. These struggles aren’t unique to me; they are true for millions of Americans throughout the nation. As low-income families like the one I grew up in and middle-class families hope for economic recovery following burdensome lockdowns and mandates, President Biden systematically stifles economic prosperity through his deliberate socialist agenda that shackles growth and access to opportunity.
“Marxism 101 has zero understanding of Economics 101. The policies coming out of the White House and Capitol Hill are putting America on a fast track to the failed states of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. Socialism is knocking at the door, and Biden’s ‘lack of’ infrastructure bill and tax and spending Build Back Better proposal will unilaterally dismantle the American economy. Low-income families, blue-collar workers, and seniors on fixed incomes are feeling the brunt of Bidenomics. Families from Fort Myers to Flint, Michigan, and Estero, Florida to Eugene, Oregon, are seeing the daily impact of Democrat leadership in Washington.
“The cost of fueling your car is up over 50%, everyday goods like meat, fish, chicken, and eggs are up nearly 12%, energy prices edging 30%, and our Consumer Price Index has hit a 30-year high at 6.2%. These historically grave numbers directly result from paying Americans to stay home, Green New Deal energy initiatives, and massive trillion-dollar spending plans sponsored by avowed socialists like Bernie Sanders and AOC. Biden’s America is hurting the very Americans he pledged to support; this is another failed promise of his presidency.”
