This past week, the House of Representatives was in recess, affording me ample time to be in Southwest Florida with the great people of Florida's 19th Congressional District.
In Washington, D.C., many of the barriers surrounding the United States Capitol remain standing, and hundreds of National Guard troops continue to line the streets, but this is not the same story on our Southern Border. The crisis on the border is only getting worse. Yet, the President of the United States nor the Vice President have traveled to the border to assess the humanitarian crisis unfolding because of their feckless stance on illegal immigration. My Democratic colleagues seem to like walls and barriers around their workplace but not the communities they were elected to serve.
Back home, I have enjoyed meeting with local leaders and everyday Americans who aren't looking for more government but simply the opportunity to live in harmony and have access to the American Dream. As your Congressman, I will continue to ensure your government prioritizes the people and not politics and that Southwest Floridians have a voice on Capitol Hill.
Florida continues to be a model of success during the ongoing challenges brought on by the pandemic. We continue to mourn every loss of life, and through continued coordination with the Administration, Florida is outpacing many states in the vaccine distribution, getting one step closer to an end to this horrible pandemic. We are fortunate to live in the Sunshine State, where we prioritize your freedoms, your child's education follows the science, not political science, and you, the hardworking American taxpayer, can continue to live, work, and prosper.
