WASHINGTON –– Today, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) introduced legislation to bolster election integrity and transparency. The Vote Outcome Transparency in Elections ("VOTE") Act requires states to provide on a public website the night of a federal election how many ballots they currently have in their possession and requires all ballots delivered by the USPS to receive a postmark.
“The debacle of the 2020 elections exposed something troubling––the unconstitutional and unilateral changing of election laws by several counties and states across the country. Many on the left like to excuse these divergences from the Constitution because of the pandemic. We cannot ignore fraud and illegality, especially when it comes to the sanctity of our elections," said Rep. Donalds. "The catastrophe of the 2020 elections must never happen again, and the American people must have faith in the security of our ballots and voting system going forward. I am proud to present this legislation that supports our founding principles of Federalism while also providing much-needed transparency in federal elections."
Garrett Bess, Vice President of Government Relations and Communications, Heritage Action for America, said:
“Conservatives across the country support Congressman Donalds’ efforts to ensure transparency and integrity in our election processes with the VOTE Act."
