Last week, the House of Representatives stood in legislative session as congressional Democrats continued their scheming and political theatre.

Amidst the ongoing war in Ukraine, the need for American-produced energy has never been more critical. As the leader of the free world, the United States must never put itself into a position where we are solely reliant on foreign oil and gas. As Russian President Vladimir Putin continues his military assault on the people of Ukraine, the time is now to revitalize American energy independence. President Biden and his administration must work with Congress to promote policies that foster domestic energy production, lower energy costs, and encourage the growth of American jobs. As struggling Americans suffer under the weight of his failed policies, it's time for the Biden administration to reverse course and prioritize domestic oil production.

Now is the time for leadership. When we look back at history, it was strength, not weakness, that overcame dictators' evil acts. While I disagree with nearly everything President Biden has done, we need him to succeed at this—he needs a Reagan and Churchill moment in Europe this week. As the president prepares to meet with our allies, he needs to reassure the American people and the world that Putin will not succeed in subverting peace in Europe. This starts with adopting Trump's policies towards NATO and ensuring that every NATO nation upholds its obligations to the agreement. Additionally, we must work with our European allies to provide the Ukrainians with the resources needed to fight. Lastly, we must continue dismantling Russia's economy and authority on the world stage.

"I appreciate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy giving a joint address to Congress. His strength and resolve throughout the war have been inspriring to our nation and the world, and we must do more to stop Putin's relentless attack on their sovereignty.

This starts with increasing our defense assistance to Ukraine, including Stinger missiles & MiG-29 fighter jets. Lastly, Biden and NATO must do everything they can to ensure the safe escape of civilians and the transfer of food, medical assistance, and other life-saving necessities.

We must ensure no U.S. troops on the ground, but we can do more."

Legislative Updates

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) overloading cryptocurrency and blockchain firms with regulatory reports to ‘gather information’ creates an unwarranted burden on private businesses.

I'm proud to join my colleague, Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) in a bipartisan letter to gain insight into why the SEC is soliciting our nation's private businesses.

When it comes to banking in the US, Dodd-Frank regulations have systematically dismantled community banking.

Congress must reverse course to relieve these regulatory burdens and ensure that business owners have the resources necessary to succeed.

In January, several tornadoes struck Southwest Florida. Governor Ron DeSantis' request for federal relief was denied by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Last week, I sent a letter to President Biden

expressing my support of the Governor's appeal to ensure vital resources are available to those in need.

The governor’s appeal, if successful, will ensure vital resources to those that were impacted by the devastating tornadoes in SWFL and Biden to provide the necessary support to get my constituents back on their feet.

As someone who attended a Historical Black College and University, the recent bomb threats against these institutions are deeply troubling to me.

I want to thank House Committee on Oversight and Reform Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) for accepting my request for a hearing on these attacks and Republican Ranking Member Rep. James Comer (R-KY) for supporting my efforts on this matter.
