This past week, Congress remained in recess, which afforded me ample time to travel the district and meet with the hardworking Americans of Florida's 19th Congressional District.
The devastating and harrowing reports released regarding Russia's unprovoked military aggression towards Ukraine are dangerous, volatile, and have the world watching in fear and uncertainty. As the situation develops, it has become clear to the entire world that Russian President Vladimir Putin is taking advantage of the weakness of President Biden and our allies in the West. To be clear, this exploitation of worldly "leadership" does not and will never excuse the actions of a ruthless dictator but exposes the need for a resilient foreign policy that deters our adversaries from upending the stable world order.
The events that unfolded last week in Ukraine serve as a grim reminder that leadership has consequences. President Biden's delay in introducing sanctions against Russia has caused weakening across Eastern Europe. As Russia launches a full-scale military invasion, my prayers are with the Ukrainian people. Their right to live freely and democratically is under attack. May we as Americans never take for granted our freedom.
Another grave mistake from this administration is their relentless crusade against America's energy industry that has left us dependent on energy from our adversaries, including the Russians. As a reminder, on day one, President Biden destabilized our energy independence by canceling the Keystone XL pipeline, killing jobs, and making us more reliant on foreign energy. Now, more than ever, we must abandon Biden's Green New Deal energy-killing agenda and unleash America's capabilities to become energy independent again.
Lastly, ahead of President Biden's State of the Union address tomorrow, I am hoping the President will address the many crises his administration has created:
- Ongoing Illegal Immigrant Crisis at our Southern Border
- Russia's Military Invasion of Ukraine
- Soaring inflation
- National Labor Shortage
- Rise in crime
- Supply Chain Crisis
- The Killing of American Energy Independence
- Reckless Federal Spending
- Totalitarian Vaccine Mandates
The President must lay out a detailed plan and provide the American people with bipartisan, sensible solutions that will bring real relief to the millions of American families suffering under the weight of his failed policies.
