Last week, the House of Representatives remained in August recess. This break in the legislative session will provide me ample time to travel throughout Southwest Florida to meet with constituents and local stakeholders. I will continue to advocate for the conservative values of #FL19!

I continue to cheer on Team USA at the summer Olympics in Tokyo! Last week, the United States passed China on gold medal wins - a testament to the hard work and training of our American athletes. I will always support our athletes who proudly represent the red, white, and blue and continue to show their patriotism for America on the world stage. We have the great honor of living in the greatest country in the world and I am pleased to see our 626 American Olympic athletes who showcase such perseverance and resiliency. Go team USA! 

As our nation continues to battle the pandemic, I continue to support Governor DeSantis' efforts to vaccinate our most vulnerable residents and keep our state open without burdensome and authoritarian mandates. Since the start of the virus and through today, I continue to express my heartfelt thank you to the frontline workers providing life-saving care to those in need; as your Congressman, I commend your heroic actions. Under the Trump Administration, the power of both the public and private sectors achieved the impossible by creating Operation Warp Speed. Through this operation birthed several critical vaccines in the fight against COVID. While I commend this massive success, I will never stand for forced vaccination. Since the Biden-Harris Administration, Democrats and the media have established modern-day segregation; the vaccinated vs. the unvaccinated. This dangerous overreach of power is un-American and cannot be tolerated in our Republic. In America, we pride ourselves on freedom and liberty, which must prevail, even during a pandemic. Get vaccinated if you so choose, but it is none of your business if you do not.

Last week, embattled New York Governor Andrew Cuomo resigned after the State of New York Attorney General Letitia James released the report of investigation into allegations of sexual harassment by the Governor. For my official statement on this resignation, please read my press release below.

Last week, Florida State University lost a remarkable and beloved man, football Coach Bobby Bowden. My wife, Erika, and I are saddened by this loss. Guided by his faith, Coach Bowden graced the lives of everyone he met and his life and legacy define the spirit of America and the heart of FSU. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those that knew and loved him.

Rest in peace, Coach Bowden.

Last week, I hosted a Congressional Water Roundtable where I was able to sit down with several local, and federal water experts to discuss ways that we can work together to ensure the Southwest Florida community has clean water for generations to come.

Access to clean and safe water is one of my top priorities. Florida public schools reopened for the new school year last week. I wish all the students, teachers, faculty, parents and bus drivers a happy and safe start to the school year. In Florida, we prioritized parental control in education by allowing them, not the government, to make the best educational choices for their kids.
