WASHINGTON - Today, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) issued the following statement in response to the newly released Consumer Price Index (CPI) data that shows inflation barreling ahead at 8.3%.
“Today's CPI data confirms what nearly every American feels in Biden's America—everything is more expensive. This administration says their plans will only 'tax the rich and 'make them pay their fair share,' but everyone is paying more under their policies. How much more? A lot:
- Gasoline is UP 43.6%
- Used Cars are UP 22.7%
- Meats/Fish/Eggs are UP 14.3%
- New Cars are UP 13.2%
- Electricity is UP 11.0%
- Food at home is UP 10.8%
- Transportation is UP 8.5%
- Food away from home is UP 7.2%
“This massive increase in prices isn’t Putin’s Price Hike or the fault of the ‘ultra-MAGA,’ this is a direct result of Biden’s radical Bernie Sanders leftist agenda. Since taking office, Biden has had one mission: Be more progressive than FDR and cement a legacy, despite the consequences to the American people. Well, he’s made history, just not the good kind. Energy prices and inflation are at record highs, wages are down at the hands of inflation, and our nation faces a massive labor shortage. The American people know that one-party rule in Washington is to blame for America’s failing economy.”
