Last week, I joined several of my congressional colleagues on a trip to McAllen, Texas. Despite being just three miles from the southern border, my Democrat colleagues once again refused to address the unprecedented wave of illegal immigration occurring under their party's disastrous open-border policies.
This visit comes on the heels of some eye-opening reports from the southern border. In the month of May, there were 239,416 migrant encounters at the border, which marks the highest monthly total of migrant encounters at the southern border in the history of this country. This breaks the previous record of 234,088 migrant encounters, which was set in the previous month of April. With over 1.5 million illegal crossings reported by U.S. Customs and Border Protection for FY2022, this crisis continues to reach insurmountable levels. Every day that this crisis remains unaddressed, is a day that American lives are in jeopardy. During the 2022 Fiscal Year, over 5,300 pounds of fentanyl seized at our southern border by CBP officials, this administration's outright denial of this crisis has caused this drug to become the number one killer of young adults in America. Vice President Kamala Harris, who was tapped to serve as the Border Czar by President Biden, claimed last year that "extreme progress" was made in regards to the humanitarian crisis occurring at our southern. Yet, these shocking and alarming statistics show that the White House has little to no concern or plans to solve this mounting crisis.
In the midst of the border crisis, Biden's price hike continues to skyrocket. As Americans pay 78% at the pump due to Biden's reckless spending, Democrats continue to dodge questions, play the blame game, and dismiss the severity of this price hike. Between record-high inflation and soaring prices, fixed-income Americans and middle-class families are facing the burden of Biden's little knowledge of basic economics. Small businesses across the nation are being forced to raise prices, fire employees, or close their doors due to this economic crisis. Refusing to take accountability, President Biden continues to point fingers in order to save his plummeting polling numbers. This administration's failure to admit the detrimental impacts of the American Rescue Plan and take action that brings real relief to struggling families shows their priority lies not in serving the American people but in passing a radically progressive agenda.

Last week, I voted "Yes" on a bill that expands an existing statute granting security for Supreme Court justices. This level of security would extend to the Supreme Court Justices' families as well.
After the arrest of a man who had been plotting to take the life of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, my colleagues and I felt this bill was necessary. The bill was passed unanimously in the Senate, and 396-27 in the House. The 27 House members were all Democrats.
