WASHINGTON - Today, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) issues the following statement opposing Biden’s massive social welfare multi-trillion-dollar bill, the so-called Build Back Better Act.
“Today, I voted NO on Biden’s plan to expand the social welfare system in America. I grew up poor in a single-parent household. I am not ignorant of our poor and working-class’ needs, nor am I naive to the devastating result of this massive tax and spending bill that will continue to bankrupt our future generations. Democrats’ messaging on this bill has been a farce. Claiming the proposal will cost zero dollars; meanwhile, CBO anticipates this plan adding more than $380 billion to our national debt.
“Additionally, claiming that working-class families will not have their taxes increased. At the same time, this bill will raise taxes and exacerbate inflation which will devastate blue-collar families and those on fixed incomes, and the list goes on. Biden, Pelosi, and the radical left aren’t interested in economics; they are focused on their egos and cementing a legacy before the American people clean house and elect a record number of conservatives to Congress in a clear rebuke of their radical leadership.
“I call on the United States Senate, particularly Senators Manchin and Sinema, to vote their conscience, undoubtedly telling them to reject this bad bill. Anyone being honest knows that Build Back ‘Better’ will destroy our energy industry, heighten inflation, and raise taxes on virtually every small business and those in middle America while bailing out Green New Deal extremists and the wealthy elitist on the coasts.”
