FORT MYERS – Congressman Byron Donalds (FL-19) released the following statement regarding the passing of Fort Myers City Community Activist Anthony Thomas.
“Erika and I are deeply saddened to hear the news of Fort Myers Community Activist Anthony Thomas’ unfortunate passing. He was a close friend, and though we often disagreed when it came to politics, I never doubted his love, passion, and commitment to Southwest Florida. During this difficult period, we remain rooted in our faith, and are sending prayers to Anthony’s family and loved ones as they deal with this remarkable loss,” said Rep. Donalds. “Despite his battle with cancer, he remained steadfast in his lifelong devotion to bettering the City of Fort Myers. A fierce advocate for the empowerment and advancement of the Black community within Fort Myers, Anthony has created a lasting legacy in his tireless efforts in uplifting those around him is prolific.”
Passionate and spirited, the never-wavering determination of Anthony Thomas, and his love of Southwest Florida, will continue to live on in those who knew him.”
