Last week, the House of Representatives remained in recess, allowing my staff and I ample time to travel throughout Florida's 19th Congressional District meeting with constituents. As our office readies to head back to Washington later this week for session, we are taking advantage of opportunities to tour Southwest Florida.
Meanwhile, back in the swamps of Washington, D.C., my Democrat colleagues are supporting President Biden's sweeping unconstitutional Executive Actions regarding gun control. Biden is side-stepping Congress, and simultaneously silencing the voices of millions of Americans, and is introducing measures that infringe upon every American's constitutional right. These proposed Executive Actions would force law-abiding citizens to potentially surrender legal and lawful firearms, expand gun confiscation orders, and increase red flag laws. It is through these measures, and with Biden saying, "No amendment to the Constitution is absolute" that it is clear our President has no respect for our Constitution, the system of checks and balances, and the inalienable rights we have as Americans. If President Biden continues leading down this path, our liberties are in grave danger.
My Democrat colleagues have yet to take action regarding the political crisis on our Southern Border. The New York Times publishing an article calling upon Biden to finish the wall on our Southern Border is all the proof needed to show how bad this Biden Border Crisis really is. Later this week, I will be joining my colleagues on the House Committee on Government Oversight & reform on a trip to Texas to see the crisis occurring on our border firsthand. My colleagues and I will be meeting with local leaders, border patrol, and touring holding facilities. Unlike the Democrats, I am not denying this crisis. I am looking forward to the meaningful discussions that will take place on the border.
Back home in beautiful Southwest Florida, I was happy to attend numerous events this past week up and down the Gulf Coast. My team and I toured waters up in Sanibel to discuss water quality efforts, I spoke at the Collier County Republican Executive Committee, joined the Lee County Republican Executive Committee, and much more.
