As the House of Representatives remains in recess, I am enjoying time away from the swamp and back home with the hardworking people I am honored to represent in FL 19.
Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C., my Democrat colleagues have yet to address the looming national security and humanitarian crisis occurring on our Southern border. Instead, President Biden is now proposing a $2 trillion infrastructure plan that adopts many of AOC's and Sen. Bernie Sanders's radical anti-capitalist policies. This massive so-called infrastructure package only allocated 5% of funding for infrastructure projects, and the rest includes radical climate change policies and strips away Right to Work laws in several states, including Florida. This monstrosity will take away American and foreign companies' incentives to do business in the USA, resulting in outsourcing and economic hardship on the American people. If this bill passes, you, the American taxpayer, will see your taxes rise and economic growth at home decrease drastically.
This proposed bill is incredibly fiscally irresponsible. Within just three months in office, it is clear that President Biden has no concern over the value of our dollar and the increase in our national debt. As a fiscal conservative who opposes unnecessary federal spending, I am opposed to this vast expansion of the federal government at the expense of American jobs and American money. I will continue to stand alongside my colleagues in Congress to fight against this monstrosity of a spending package.
Back home in sunny Southwest Florida, I had the great privilege of attending multiple tours and community events to learn more about the needs of the communities we are blessed to call home. My team and I attended events this week in Cape Coral, Naples, Bonita Springs, and more. In light of the pandemic, I also had many virtual meetings with the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, Florida Citizens Alliance, and many other organizations.
