Last week, I traveled back to Washington, D.C., as the House of Representatives stood in session.
Just days ago, thousands of pro-life Americans peacefully gathered in our nation's capital to advocate for the unborn. As radical leftists in Congress aim to eliminate the Hyde Amendment, bipartisan legislation which restricts tax dollars from funding abortions, the fight to defend the right to life has never been more critical. As the 49th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision just passed, I remain committed to protecting the unborn and the sanctity of life. Roe must go.
The American people stand crippled in fear thanks to the violent crime wave sweeping the nation, caused in part by the intended policies of the radical left to be soft on crime and allow career criminals on the streets to prey on innocent Americans. Major cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, and New York are experiencing record crime, chaos, and a depleted police budget. As elected officials embrace the 'Defund the Police' movement and District Attorney's refuse to prosecute, the people suffer the most with violence, upheaval, and unease. While liberal officials across the nation prioritize arresting Americans without vaccination cards, innocent people are being attacked, murdered, and mugged. President Biden's refusal to address this crime surge further enables criminals and completely ignores the real concerns people face throughout the nation.
Last week, the nation watched President Biden's first solo press conference at the White House in 300 days. President Biden offered little comment on the record-high inflation paralyzing America's middle class and made no references to the ongoing humanitarian crisis at the southern border, among serval over troubles. One of the most disturbing comments from the president was when he stated that he had zero regrets about the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan that left 13 service members killed and hundreds more in the region either dead or injured. That should be his biggest regret. While the president would like to take a victory lap after his first year in office—he cannot escape reality. The reality is that lower and middle-class Americans feel the pain of inflation, our border is wide open, more Americans are dead due to COVID-19, and our enemies are taking advantage of us around the globe. I want you to know you have a fighter in Congress, and I'll work tirelessly to ensure that the radical left fails in their ruthless attempt to transform America fundamentally.
