This week begins a historical celebration for millions of Americans. Black History Month is a time to celebrate and honor the hardworking Black Americans that have shaped this nation. Each week during February, my office will celebrate and recognize Black Americans who have played an integral role in crafting America's history. During this month, my office will highlight a local SWFL figure that has transformed our community.

Additionally, the Biden Administration continued to lead from behind a desk with a plethora of Executive Orders aimed at undoing the previous president's legacy and bowing to the AOC wing of the party. As a member of the Legislative Branch, I am discouraged by this lazy leadership taking place from the Oval Office. President Biden must reach out to Congress, the branch responsible for legislating, for furthering his executive agenda. The 117th Congress is composed of the slimmest margins since WWII. The Biden Presidency will have to reach across the aisle to pass vital legislation for the American people.

Black History Month

WASHINGTON- Today, Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) issued the following statement in recognition of Black History Month.

"Black History Month is when our nation comes together to reflect on the Black community's immense contributions to our country's storied history. The promise of America is my life's story- born into inner-city Brooklyn, the son of a single mother, to being elected to the most powerful legislative body in the world. Today and every day, we pay homage to patriots like Sojourner Truth, Booker T. Washington, General Benjamin O. Davis, Jr., Katherine Johnson, Justice Clarence Thomas, and generations of American heroes who devoted their lives to form a more perfect union."

Legislative Updates

As we celebrate #SchoolChoiceWeek, I am happy to announce my membership in the Congressional Caucus on Education Innovation and Opportunity. I look forward to working with my colleagues to expand educational freedom and increase high-quality education for all children.

The Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance (PLGHA) Act prevents taxpayer-funded global health programs from funding non-governmental organizations that perform, lobby, and promote abortion. Last week, President Joe Biden repealed this vital legislation.

On Friday, January 29th, I signed on to letter with over 130 of my Republican colleagues in a letter to President Biden addressing thispainful procedure that terminates a child's life. My colleagues and I called on to President Biden to reverse this decision and re-instate the PLGHA. The U.S. taxpayer should not be forced in to funding foreign abortions. Yesterday, I joined the Chris Salcedo show on Newsmax to discuss the issues going on with Robinhood, GameStop, and Citadel, LLC. Chris and I also heavily discussed the COVID-19 relief package that the Biden Administration is pushing by completing side-stepping Congress.
